Reliance Jio Infocomm has put its plans to rollout 4G services on the fast track.
The company has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for establishing a 4G network in the city.
As per the MoU, the operator is looking to lay 750 km of optical fibre cable within the Corporation?s jurisdiction. It is believed that the project would cost Rs 40 billion and is likely to be completed during the first quarter of 2014.
Meanwhile, the operator is reportedly also in the process of obtaining approvals for rolling out 4G services in 54 towns in West Bengal. This initiative would require a 3,000 km network of optical fibre as well.
