As per the recent telecom subscription data released by TRAI, Reliance Jio and Airtel added 6.2 million and 900,000 subscribers, respectively, in February 2020. At the end of February, Reliance Jio had over 382.8 million subscribers and Bharti Airtel had a subscriber base of over 329 million. With this, Reliance Jio continued to dominate the top spot in terms of subscriber market share, followed by Airtel.
On the other hand, Vodafone Idea lost 3.46 million subscribers, bringing its total subscriber base down to 325.5 million.
Meanwhile, state-run BSNL added over 43.9 million subscribers taking its total tally to nearly 119.9 million.
Further, in terms of total wireless subscriptions, the number increased from 1.16 billion at the end of January 2020 to 1.16 billion at the end of February 2020, recording a monthly increase rate of 0.36 per cent.
However, wireless subscription in urban areas decreased from 644.5 million at the end of January 2020 to 643.2 million at the end of February 2020. Meanwhile, wireless subscription in rural areas increased from 511.9 million to 517.3 million during the period under consideration.
Monthly growth rates of urban and rural wireless subscription were 0.20 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively, it said.
