Haptik, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has recently acquired Buzzo.ai, a Mumbai-based conversational commerce start-up. As per industry sources, the size of the deal was valued at $3-4 million.

The move follows Haptik’s recent acqui-hiring of the founding team of Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup, Convrg.

Buzzo.ai, started in 2016 is a platform used for conversational shopping experience in retail or e-commerce. It uses its AI assistant to understand customer’s need through natural conversation.

The acquisition would allow Haptik to further enhance voice and chat commerce solutions, and leverage the platform to power multilingual experiences.

In April 2019, Reliance Jio had acquired 87 per cent stake in Haptik for about Rs 7 billion.
