As per the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel gained 1.41 million and 0.8 million mobile users respectively in October 2022. Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi), on the other hand, lost a whopping 3.5 million mobile users in the same month, shrinking its user base to 245. 62 million. Jio and Airtel user base stood at 421.38 million and 365.02 million, respectively.

In terms of customer market shares, Jio’s share levelled up from 36.66 per cent in September 2022 to 36.85 per cent in October 2022, while Airtel saw an increase from 31.8 per cent to 31.92 per cent during the same period. Vi on the other hand saw a dip from 21.75 per cent to 21.48 per cent.

The data also listed the active users or visitor location register (VLR) for Airtel to be at 98.08 per cent, for Jio at 92.79 per cent and 86.02 per cent for Vi. The wireless teledensity fell from 82.94 per cent in September 2022 to 82.75 per cent in October 2022. The country saw a dip in active mobile user base by 0.16 per cent, from 1.144 billion by end of October 2022 as compared to 1.145 billion in September 2022.

Meanwhile, the cumulative request for mobile number portability (MNP) reached 759.92 million by end of October 2022.
