
Reliance Infocomm has announced plans to launch services in 400,000 villages and 5,700 towns to provide services to 650 million people by December 2005. The expansion drive is part of the company’s Rs 240 billion plan to establish a nationwide footprint.
Reliance has invested Rs 150 billion for service rollout. The company, which had a subscriber base of 10.3 million at end-2004, estimates that its current expansion drive will help it to double its subscriber base by March 2006.
