Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is planning to tie up with HFCL to roll out a 7,000 km optic fibre cable network at a cost of Rs 12 billion. If the tie-up takes place, HFCL will lay a cable network connecting RIL’s retail outlets across the country. RIL is also negotiating with RailTel, Power Grid and BSNL for leasing additional fibre lines that are to be used for RIL’s internal data traffic.
