
Reliance Communications (RCOM) has acquired Uganda-based Anupam Global Soft, a company which holds a public infrastructure provider licence and a public service provider licence issued by the Uganda Communications Commission. RCOM has received spectrum and is likely to launch mobile services in Uganda by the end of 2008. The company intends to invest up to $500 million in establishing a high quality, IP-enabled integrated telecom network in Uganda. The company is planning to offer mobile, fixed line, internet, and national and international long distance services, in addition to WiMax and Wi-Fi services.
