Reliance Communication has inaugurated Falcon, an undersea cable R aimed at providing cheaper bandwidth to retail and commercial users. The 2.56 terrabit Falcon submarine cable system, costing around $400 million, connects 11 countries including Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Maldives on its entire length of 11,859 km from Mumbai to Egypt. The Falcon cable system is expected to result in 30 to 40 per cent year-on-year growth in international revenues for the Reliance Communication Group.
