Reliance Industries has announced the soft launch of its new commerce venture named Jiomart.

As per industry sources, JioMart will currently cater to online shoppers in the suburban Mumbai areas of Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan and would gradually scale up its presence. The site offers free home delivery, pre-registration discounts and options to buy more than 50,000 grocery products online.

New commerce is Reliance Retail’s offline-to-online initiative, which aims to link producers, traders, small merchants, brands and consumers through technology. As per the company, the new venture will be partnering local grocers and equip them with points of sale (PoS) terminals, low-interest working capital, inventory management skills, and goods and services tax (GST) compliance.

The company is currently sending invites to Jio telecom users for registering on the new venture.

However, the formal launch timeline has yet not been disclosed.
