RCOM has served a legal notice to DoT seeking a stay on the new spectrum allocation norms based on TRAI’s recommendations.
According to RCOM, by accepting TRAI’s recommendations, DoT has succumbed to pressure from GSM players and has hence given them unnecessary concession. RCOM has also sought enforcement of the TEC-recommended subscriber-based criteria for spectrum allocation. It had earlier alleged that GSM operators were hoarding spectrum beyond their entitlement of 6.2 MHz and should therefore be asked to return the excess spectrum.
