The Government of India has appointed Rajesh Rai to the post of chairman and managing director (CMD) of ITI Limited for a period of five years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post i.e., February 21, 2023, till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.

In accordance with this Government of India order dated February 20, 2023, Rakesh Chandra Tiwari, director, marketing, ITI Limited, has relinquished the additional charge of the post of CMD with effect from February 21, 2023, and will remain director of marketing.

Rai is a seasoned telecommunication domain expert having more than 30 years of rich experience in the telecommunication industry. Prior to assuming charge as CMD of ITI Limited, Rai served as general manager of Mahanagar Telphone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Mumbai. He also has held the prestigious post of chief technology officer (CTO) of Mahanagar Telephone Mauritius Limited (MTML) in Mauritius for 12 years, where he was responsible for code division multiple access (CDMA), global system for mobile communication (GSM), 3G and 4G network deployment, and customer acquisition.

Rai holds a bachelors degree of engineering in electronics from Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College, Gorakpur, M.Tech in computer science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and MBA from FMS, Delhi University.

Rai brings a fresh and renewed energy to ITI Limited as his illustrious career demonstrates that wherever he took charge, he has left an indelible mark by adding lasting value.
