In an attempt to make citizens aware, the state of Rajasthan has issued an advisory stating that Starlink Internet Service is not licenced to provide satellite based services in India as doing so requires a provider to have requisite license and authorisation from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

The DoT had urged the citizens to abstain from subscribing to the Starlink services as Starlink Internet Services is not licensed to provide satellite-based internet services to the general public in India. Lately, the company has been allowing pre-booking on its website for the same.

The government has asked the company to comply with the Indian regulatory framework for providing satellite-based communication services and refrain from booking satellite internet services in India with immediate effect.
