RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel) and Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited (Techno Electric) will soon roll out edge data centres (EDC) at 100 locations across smaller cities in India to push digital transformation.
The idea behind the EDC is to serve hyperlocal content to people all along the railway tracks. With the help of localised data centres, smaller cities and rural areas can be served with low latency applications related to digital skills, financial inclusions and digital literacy.
The location for the EDC will be dictated by the geographical considerations, including power availability and cost, customer demand, real-estate price, and physical and security risk factors, latency requirements of the service it supports and access to network resources.
Techno electric is already surveying the locations to launch the services.
