The board of Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has decided to delist the company from the Bahrain Stock Exchange. The decision was taken after careful deliberation that included a review of the company’s recent expansion into 17 countries and its resulting needs and commitments. Qtel, which has consistently been witnessing low trading volumes on the stock exchange, does not anticipate that the delisting will adversely affect the stock’s liquidity, the company’s shareholders or other investors. The company listed on the Doha securities market in 1998, the Bahrain Stock Exchange in 2001 and the Abu Dhabi securities market in 2002. It has a global depository receipt listing on the London bourse since 1999.
