Qatar Telecom (QTel) and Kuwait’s Noor Financial Investment have submitted bids for Oman’s second fixed line licence. QTel intends to offer fixed line services such as high speed internet access, alongside its existing wireless offering in the country. According to Noor Financial Investment, if it wins the licence, it will be operated by its subsidiary, Noortel. Six bidders have been shortlisted for the licence and the winner is likely to be announced soon.
