Praruh Technologies has won a Rs 389.8 million deal from RailTel Corporation of India (RailTel) to modernise the latter’s metro dense wavelength division multiplexing (MDWDM) network using equipment from Nokia. Under the project, Praruh will deploy advanced optical networking solutions across 286 locations across India.

Praruh said in a statement that it will undertake the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance of a next-generation MDWDM system, along with integration into RailTel’s existing network operations centre and operations support systems through standard northbound application programming interfaces provided by the system controller.

Further, the project also covers end-to-end project management, supply of equipment and related goods, logistics and transportation, installation, acceptance testing, and training of RailTel personnel to ensure seamless operations and long-term network reliability.

The deployment will use Nokia’s software-defined networking (SDN)-enabled next-generation MDWDM system, which operates on discrete wavelengths in the C-band centred around 193.1 terahertz. The architecture will support single or dual-carrier channels with 100G and 200G coherent line rates.
