Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Sanjay Mehrotra, chief executive officer (CEO), Micron Technology to discuss India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
Mehrotra updated the prime minister on the progress the company was making in the Sanand project in Gujarat, as well as on Micron’s focus on increasing the workforce for semiconductor manufacturing in India. The two also discussed Micron’s engagement with society and community in India, for example, the Atal Tinkering Lab that Micron started in Sanand.
Mehrotra also met the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, later. As per the chief minister’s office, Patel extended all the required support from the government for India’s first semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Sanand.
