The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has selected a consortium led by PixxelSpace to develop a commercial, indigenous constellation of earth observation satellites. The project involves an investment exceeding Rs 12 billion (around $137 million) over the next five years.

The consortium includes domestic space tech companies Piersight Space, Satsure Analytics India, and Dhruva Space, which will jointly design, build, and operate the satellite network, IN-SPACe said. Moreover, PixxelSpace’s bid outperformed proposals from Indian defence equipment makers Astra Microwave and Bharat Electronics.
