As per data shared by the ministry of communications, penalty of around Rs 32 million has been imposed on telecom operators for call drops between September 2018 and June 2019.

A penalty worth Rs 17.6 million has been imposed on Vodafone Idea, which includes Rs 11.1 million on account of call drops on Vodafone’s network and Rs 6.5 million on Idea’s network. Further, Rs 0.65 million penalty was levied on Reliance Jio.

Additionally, financial disincentive of Rs 4.75 million has been imposed on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Rs 5.6 million on Tata Teleservices, Rs 3.4 million on Bharti Airtel.

As per the ministry, except BSNL all other telcos have met the benchmark of minimum number of mobile tower functional in service area, for the period of July-September 2019.  Further, BSNL also failed to meet network availability criteria in West Bengal while Vodafone Idea failed in Jammu & Kashmir circle.
