Pawan Anand: Senior Director, Sales, Ascendion
Pawan Anand is a seasoned technology and business leader. With deep expertise in modernising telecom operations, he has played a pivotal role in driving large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, software automation and customer experience transformation. Throughout his career, Anand has led multi-million-dollar programmes, and contributed to industry thought leadership through research, patents and global conference presentations.
In his current role at Ascendion, he spearheads business development and client engagement across the Communications, Media and Entertainment vertical, helping telecom providers embrace AI, cloud and next-generation software engineering. With the telecom industry rapidly evolving through advancements in 5G, open radio access network and AI-native operations, Anand focuses on translating these innovations into scalable, responsible and sustainable solutions. His core mission is twofold – accelerating AI adoption in field-force automation and software engineering and enabling telecom companies to build intelligent, agile ecosystems that drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Reflecting on the key trends shaping the telecom industry, he notes, “First, agentic AI will redefine how networks self-optimise, customer service is delivered and decisions are made in real-time. Second, hyper-personalisation powered by generative AI (GenAI) will become the norm – delivering curated, predictive and conversational experiences. Third, telecoms will move toward open, cloud-native architectures, enabling faster innovation and ecosystem collaboration, especially for business-to-business use cases in smart cities, healthcare and manufacturing.”
Anand describes his leadership style as empowerment-driven and outcomes-focused. One of the most memorable assignments in his career involved modernising a telecom operator’s mobile app ecosystem against fierce competition by leveraging a cutting-edge AI-powered modular architecture. The project, characterised by technical complexities, tight deadlines and shifting requirements, turned into a remarkable success story.
Anand holds an executive doctorate in Business Administration from the prestigious Fox School of Business at Temple University. He also holds an MBA, a bachelor’s in Engineering and specialised AI certifications, equipping him with a strong multidisciplinary foundation.
Beyond work, Anand is an avid traveller and a cricket enthusiast. He finds inspiration in his family – his wife and their two sons – who balance, his dynamic professional journey.
