The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India?s (TRAI) recommendations on the Auction of Spectrum continue to face hurdles.

After facing opposition from all factions of the telecom industry, the inter-ministerial panel which has been established to oversee the proceedings of the upcoming auction, has reportedly also expressed its concerns over certain suggestions, say news reports.

For example, the panel feels that the regulator?s suggestion to permit operators to pay for spectrum over 10 years is not valid as it is pointless to mortgage spectrum if spectrum trading was not permitted.

The panel plans to obtain the opinion of the Department of Financial Services on this issue before taking a final decision.
