The World Bank will provide Pakistan with support worth $124 million for provision of rural telecom services (90 per cent of its rural population is still deprived of such facilities). The Pakistani government had requested for financial support in order to achieve the rural teledensity targets of its Universal Service Fund for extending telecom access and e-services to rural areas. The World Bank board is expected to approve the project by the end of September.
