As per sources, Prafulla Kumar Jain has been appointed as the director, program management and authorisation, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe). IN-SPACe is an autonomous entity created recently under the Department of Space (DoS) to regulate and promote space activities by non-government entities.

Jain served as an official in Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He will be shortly moving to Ahmedabad for his latest assignment. At ISRO, Jain was responsible for frequency spectrum management and coordination for acquiring orbit-spectrum resources for India’s space programme at national and international level, and planning of the space segment for communication satellites and their utilisation.

As an associate director, frequency management and satcom planning, ISRO, Jain has served at the national space agency for over 30 years in areas of radio frequency (RF) satellite communication, ground systems design, development, system engineering, and project management; remote sensing receive and satcom ground stations installation and commissioning, satcom applications like tele-education, telemedicine, very small aperture terminals (VSATs) network configuration design, link analysis, and more.
