The advent of Ka-band satellites in India:
For the first time, Ka-band broadband technology will be deployed in India. This is expected to provide double the speed of today’s Ku-band systems.
Broadband for e-Governance:
Satellite broadband is going to play a key role in the second phase of deployment of CSCs for 150,000 centres. Further, it will be used to connect panchayats for improved governance.
Satellite for USO projects:
Satellite broadband will be used to provide broadband connectivity in villages under the Universal Services Obligation (USO) Fund. Additionally, satellite trunking for cellular networks will enable mobile phone coverage in rural areas for the first time using the USO Fund.
Integrated Cloud offering:
Satellite broadband will be bundled into cloud applications and will be offered as a bundled, integrated service, with messaging and collaboration-centric applications, banking/broking applications, video conferencing and e-learning applications.
The advent of new technologies:
Technologies like LDPC/16APSK will be deployed, that provide higher speeds and lower costs. Also, mediums like OCM/App-acceleration will be used for an improved user experience.
