Oppo, in partnership with Ericsson and MediaTek, has successfully conducted voice and video calls using 5G network.
As part of this exercise, the calls were made on Oppo’s modified commercial smartphone that featured MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 series SoC using an end-to-end 5G Standalone (SA) network powered by Ericsson Radio System products and solutions.
Going forward, Oppo plans to invest 50 billion yuan over the next three years towards research and development in 5G, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, big data, among other new age technologies. The company will also work towards building core underlying hardware technologies and software engineering ability.
