The Planning Commission?s Infrastructure Division has projected investments of Rs 9 trillion from private players in the telecom sector during the Twelfth Five Year Plan.
Moreover, fresh investments are expected to be pumped into the sector during the 2G and 4G spectrum auctions, which are to be held over the next two-three years.
As per the estimates of the Planning Commission, the overall investments in the telecom sector would exceed Rs 10 trillion including investments from public sector undertakings. Prior to this, the total investments in Eleventh Five Year Plan stood at Rs 5.6 trillion.
