Leading telecom operators have reportedly requested the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to reduce the financial bank guarantee in accordance with the clause relating to roll-out obligations.
Prior to this, the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) had stated that the financial bank guarantees should be reviewed periodically.
The TDSAT said that the operators? dues are scrutinised via the financial bank guarantees and their reviews. Further, the matter may be referred to the access services branch for taking necessary steps to sufficiently scrutinise the roll-out obligations.
Meanwhile, DoT has also asked its legal advisor for an opinion regarding this matter.
