The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is pulling out all stops to ensure that the roaming agreements issue does not recur.

?

As per news reports, DoT has asked operators to inform and update the Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) cell about any such agreements they may ink, irrespective of whether the licencee functions as an inter circle roaming provider or seeker.

Prior to this, the operators were required to inform law enforcement agencies on this subject.

This comes after various operators came under DoT?s scanner for entering into 3G roaming agreements to provide  services in circles they did not hold the spectrum in. DoT had said that such agreements were tantamount to these companies acting like mobile virtual network operators, which was not permitted.
