Bharti backed OneWeb has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tampnet to develop and trial connectivity solutions for the offshore sector. The MoU will enable OneWeb to further develop its low-latency, high-speed satcom connectivity capabilities and expand its customer base in the offshore sector.
Additionally, Tampnet and OneWeb will collaborate on a series of trials to test and evaluate network capabilities in offshore energy environments.
OneWeb has said that the trials will initially focus on providing services to offshore wind farms, rigs, and platforms in the North Sea in the first half of 2022, and in the Gulf of Mexico later in the year.
By 2023, Tampnet’s customers will be able to take advantage of OneWeb’s high-speed, low-latency, and flexible services.
