The government of Odisha has proposed setting up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in semiconductors at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar.
Supported by the Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) department, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the state’s capabilities in semiconductor research, development, manufacturing, and advanced skill-building.
Further, the decision follows increasing industry interest in investing in Odisha’s semiconductor sector, especially amid the government’s recent push to promote electronics manufacturing in the state. The CoE will focus on advanced training, capacity building, and cutting-edge research and development in semiconductor technologies. Additionally, the state government will extend the required financial and administrative support to operationalise the centre.
