NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, NEC Corporation and Hitachi have developed authentication infrastructure which can be implemented by all mobile carriers. Compared with conventional ID/password authentication, the new technology utilises public key infrastructure (PKI) and electronic certification, which prevents impersonation and falsification by a third party and alleviates users’ burden as they no longer need to register every time they use it.
