
NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s leading mobile phone service provider, plans to invest $8.2 million in two China-based companies in a move to strengthen its mobile phone businesses in the rapidly growing market there. The company will invest $4 million in newly issued stock of Emcore Technology, which has a Chinese subsidiary, Beijing Lingtu Spacecom Technology. It will also invest $4.2 million in newly issued stock of the Digital Media Group, a company that produces and distributes digital advertisements, content and services for the subway stations and trains in Shanghai. The investment will take place in January.
