Nortel Networks and its joint venture partner LG Electronics have been chosen by South Korean vendor SK Telecom (SKT) to provide HSDPA technology and UMTS equipment. SKT plans to launch UMTS services in the country’s second city, Pusan, and the southern provinces of Gyeongsang-do, Jeolla-do and Jeju Island soon.
Commercial launch of HSDPA is likely in early 2006.
