NordVPN has announced that it will shut its virtual private network (VPN) servers in India from June 26, making it the third VPN provider to exit India.

The announcement follows a cybersecurity directive from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) on April 28, mandating VPN companies to maintain basic customer information such as internet protocol (IP) addresses, names and email IDs.

According to the company, NordVPN will close its servers on June 26, 2022 stating that it would be unable to guarantee privacy to the users. The spokesperson added that the amount of stored private information would be drastically increased throughout thousands of different companies once the CERT-In order comes into effect.
