Non-telecom public sector undertakings (PSUs) including Gail India, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, (PGCIL), Oil India and RailTel Corporation are seeking legal opinion for filing a joint petition to the Supreme Court (SC) for relief with regards to adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.

The move comes after Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had issued a notice to these PSUs for over Rs 3 trillion of combined licence fee dues.

The PSUs are seeking opinion from law ministry with regards to jointly approaching the SC and seek clarification on its October 24, 2019 order.

As per industry sources, the firms have held several rounds of discussions with senior law ministry officials ahead of the payment deadline of January 23, 2020.
