Nokia to boost the adoption of O-RAN interfaces in its AirScale products portfolio

Nokia has said that it will boost the adoption of Open RAN (O-RAN) interfaces in its AirScale products portfolio.

As part of this plan, Nokia will build the new O-RAN capabilities, including open interfaces, on top of its existing AirScale software which will provide the same set of expansive functionalities and robust security standards as of Nokia’s current radio products.

So far Nokia is the only global RAN provider to commit to O-RAN and has already made investments in O-RAN by leading the early deployment of the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) and the open fronthaul.
