Nokia Networks has signed a $70 million deal with Smart Communications, a unit of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, to supply equipment for its continued network expansion.
The contract includes a GSM network solution that would help Smart penetrate the mass market more effectively. Smart had set aside $117 million for the seventh phase of its network expansion, which started in 2004 and will continue through 2005.
