Nokia, the mobile broadband specialist showcased some of its futuristic and cutting edge global technologies in the mobile data and broadband segmentat the recently concluded India Innovation Day. The technologies showcased at the event are aimed at helping telecom operatorsin India to effectively manage and monetize the ongoing mobile data growth momentum in India. Nokia?s demos highlighted company?s innovations in LTE, Single RAN, Small Cells, Customer Experience Management, IMS, Self-Optimizing Networks (SON), Network and Service Management.

It is estimated that by 2020, mobile networks will need to be readied to profitably deliver one gigabyte (1GB) of personalized data per user per day. This equates to a 60-fold increase in total data consumption compared to today. The numbers projected above highlight that operators need a new and effective way to satisfy growing demand for network and service quality. In addition while data growth is rampant across all operators in India and globally, with the advent of Over the top (OTT) players and revenue pressure, monetizing this growth is a key challenge for operators today. With its expertise and innovative technologies, Nokia is bringing in cutting edge solutions in the networks business to help operators meet their future challenges. With a hands-on approach towards Technology evolution, Nokia is also transforming its network and service management for its clientele.

Nokia is optimistic that with these technological innovations the company is stepping closer to its vision of 2020 wherein mobile operators will be able to deliver super customer experience profitably. Here are some of the futuristic technologies that were recently demonstrated at the 2014 chapter of Nokia India Innovation Day

?SingleRAN Advanced:Addressed as innovation in new age base station, the technology facilitates usage of multiple bandwidths-2G, 3G, LTE from a single device. Single RAN Advanced product portfolio significantly raises capacity and lowers costs by enabling reframing and radio frequency sharing and simplifying networks with higher capacity site solutions. Recently Vodafone India had contracted Nokia for rollout of this innovative Single RAN base stations across its 19 2G circles and 6 3G circles in India, targeting to improve experience for its subscribers and modernize its networks

?HetNets Planning:With concentrated traffic in various urban areas, the technology help telecom operatorsdefine the optimal small cell solution with end-user driven HetNet analysis, optimization and planning services

?CEM for Net Promoter Score:Customer Experience Management has become one of the prime focus for the telecom operatorstoday, especially in the advent of new technologies like 3G and LTE where retaining subscribers and providing superior data experience is key. Nokia?s CEM solution for Net Promoter Score helps operators to identify the subscribers who are experiencing poor experience at real time basis, prioritize their issues and fix them and help inducing a positive promoter score by the subscribers.

?5G: The high speed mobile internet capability will be one of the prime focusareas for Nokia. The company is actively participating in collaborative research on 5G and identifying new 5G local areas technologies and centimetre waves. The company also talked about the first global 5G commercial engagement that Nokia initiated with Japan?s NTT DoCoMo recently

?SON automation: It helps develop easy to operate centralized SON (Self Optimizing Networks) by optimizing 3G handovers (3G ANR Optimization), repairing & preventing faults (Outage Resolution) and rolling out LTE fast (Automated Site Creation) with new remote delivery capabilities over private cloud. The technology helps reduces site visits by 50%

?End-user security ? Mobile Guard: It effectively detects a malware installed on a mobile device by looking into its traffic patterns in the telecom infra-structure and the means to automatically help the subscriber solving the negative consequences of this malware and removing it. Main USP of the offering include protection for all subscribers, independent of device type and Antivirus installed or not. A truly unique solution that is extremely relevant in the advent of widespread of smartphone and technology adoptions across the country

?Customer centric Operations and Predictive Services Operators learn how to move from network centric operations driven by KPIs to customer centric operations driven by service quality (KQIs) and customer experience indicators. Nokia uses Predictive analysis, CEM based LTE/3G planning and LTE service management to help the telecom operators work towards the same. The predictive analysis by Nokia is a path breaking initiative and is a congruence of Big Data platform and Managed Services. The service helps identifying a possible network fault up to 48 hours in advance with 95 per cent accuracy ? helping operators to proactively take action and ensure uninterrupted experience for subscribers.
