According to the cabinet minister for large and medium industries and infrastructure development in the government of Karnataka, Nokia Corporation has expressed interest in setting up a global capability centre (GCC) and additional research centres in Karnataka.

The telecom major, which has been associated with the state for more than 25 years and runs its largest global research centre in Bengaluru, discussed plans to expand its operations across Karnataka, including potential expansion into Tier-II cities.

These discussions were held during meetings between senior Nokia officials and the state government on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos.
