As per industry sources, the meeting recently convened by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to discuss Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) revival ended inconclusively.

The PMO panel had asked a group of secretaries to review the issue in the next 4-5 days and reach a consensus. If the group affirmed that BSNL could be revived, then the government would take further decisions regarding the modes of funding and setting up Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

The meeting was attended by principal secretary to the Prime Minister, P.K. Mishra; BSNL’s chairman and managing director P.K. Purwar, top officials from BSNL and MTNL, officials from the PMO, telecom and finance ministries, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the NITI Aayog.
