Nitin Jain, Vice-President, Business Development, 5G and Data Centre, India and EMEA, VVDN Technologies

During his professional career spanning over 18 years, Nitin Jain acquired a diverse set of business skills including strategy, marketing, sales, team building and business development. He currently serves as vice-president, business development, 5G and data centre at VVDN Technologies for the India and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. “I am responsible for formulating and implementing strategic plans and go-to-market strategies, driving growth and collaborating with customers to ensure that VVDN is a market leader in these regions,” he says. Jain joined VVDN Technologies in 2018 with a focus on various 5G-related solutions for clients, including research and development, engineering, design, development, intellectual property rights creation and manufacturing. Prior to VVDN, he worked with ZTE Telecom India, Huawei, Ericsson and Tata Teleservices.

“VVDN is geared to take the design of 5G products to mass manufacturing. The company is working on various radio units, massive multiple-input multiple-output and centralised units/distributed units. We have also announced our own intellectual properties in fronthaul, low-phy and high-phy, which are used by testing and measurement companies,” says Jain.

According to him, private 5G networks are the latest trend in the telecom sector and these are bound to be welcomed by several industries. “India is primed for 5G roll-out soon, at least in the metro cities, and VVDN will also be launching services in the private 5G space,” he says.

Jain’s fondest memory remains the time when his team started working on the 5G business in 2018 amid uncertainty around the technology. “We developed our own IPs in 5G and also started talking to global and Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to manufacture radio units in India. Next year, we participated in the India Mobile Congress 2019. We showcased our engineering and manufacturing capabilities and got a breakthrough with an Indian OEM to design, develop and manufacture radio units for them,” he remembers.

In terms of management style, Jain believes in an open culture wherein he encourages and appreciates everyone’s ideas, suggestions and advice.

Jain has a B.E in computer science from MD University, Rohtak, as well as an MBA in marketing and operations from IMT Ghaziabad. When not working, he likes to spend time with his family. He also likes to travel and explore different cultures across the world with his family and friends. His family comprises his wife and their 13-year-old son.
