Scientists at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) have launched a joint research project to develop innovative methods for improving 5G and 6G connectivity in Sohra.

The research aims to transform Sohra’s extreme weather into an advantage by studying how rainfall intensity and droplet size affect signal transmission. The findings are expected to contribute to the design of rain-resilient communication systems, which would be particularly valuable for hilly and remote regions prone to monsoon-related network disruptions.
