The government has announced that the new data protection bill will augment efficient usage of data since it would be largely used by the industry.

Speaking at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Dr Rajendra Kumar, additional secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said that the government has put in place a proactive approach to deal with emerging technologies and subsequent threat levels.

Meanwhile, Vijay Rai, chairman, CII Delhi Panel on Technology, said that the Indian economy is predominantly agrarian, and farmer distress may be addressed by way of technologies such as global positioning system (GPS), geographic information system (GIS) and satellite data analysis.
