Neeraj Mittal has assumed charge as the new secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

According to Mittal, DoT seeks to fully accomplish the targets set by the government – to connect the unconnected across the length and breadth of the country, and achieve technological dominance through indigenous efforts in telecom.

Prior to this, Mittal had been serving as the principal secretary of the Information Technology Department, Govern­ment of Tamil Nadu. In the past, he has worked as the managing director (MD) and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu, be­fore which he served as a senior advisor at the World Bank Group and joint secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Mittal is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre (1992 batch).
