The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Neeraj Mittal as the new secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Mittal was serving as the principal secretary of the Information Technology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Previously, he worked as the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Guidance Tamil Nadu. Prior to that, he served as a senior advisor at the World Bank Group and joint secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natual Gas. Mittal is a Tamil Nadu cadre 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
ACC has also approved the appointment of S. Krishnan as the secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, upon the superannuation of Alkesh Kumar Sharma on August 31, 2023. Krishnan is a Tamil Nadu 1989-batch IAS official. Meanwhile, V. L. Kantha Rao, additional secretary, DoT has been appointed as the secretary of the Ministry of Mines.
Further, Rajesh Kumar Pathak, deputy director general (international cooperation), DoT has retired from his position. Other senior officials who have retired on reaching the age of superannuation include Pramod Kumar Singh, special director general of telecommunications, Andhra Pradesh licensed service area (LSA); Vinod C. V., chief general manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Tamil Nadu circle; Rajendra Kumar Yadav, chief general manager, BSNL Chhattisgarh Garhwal circle; Chinmay Lal Singh, deputy director general, Uttar Pradesh West; and Gunjan Prasad, general manager (operation), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Delhi.
