NEC Corporation has reportedly set up an Open RAN laboratory in India in an effort to accelerate development of 5G open ecosystem.
The company has said that the solutions will undergo end-to-end practical validations on functional/operational performance and quality assurance aspects throughout all layers of the RAN, from network and cloud to service layers. In addition, the lab will also be responsible for post-deployment trouble-shooting, life cycle management as well as continuous integration, and continuous delivery of solutions.
At present, NEC Corporation has already partnered with Altiostar, GigaTera, and MTI, as part of this initiative. Going forward, NEC plans to expand its ecosystem with a broader group of partners in possession of cutting-edge technologies to accelerate operators’ commercial adoption of Open RAN.
