The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has given an approval to the merger of Bharti Airtel’s VSAT satellite operations with Hughes Communications India Limited (HCIL) and its subsidiary, HCIL Comtel.

Earlier in May 2019, Bharti Airtel and HCIL had announced that they would combine their VSAT satellite operations in the country, in which Hughes would be the majority stakeholder.

Following this, in August 2020, Airtel shareholders had given an approval to the merger deal.

In a related development, recently in 2021, Bharti Group-backed OneWeb had received funding from US-based Hughes Network Systems.
