As per a report by Knight Frank, Mumbai has recorded the sharpest increase in data centre capacity with 56 megawatt (MW) of supply in the quarter ended June 2021 across the Asia Pacific region. With this addition, the financial capital’s total data centre supply stands at 753MW.

The report stated that pandemic influenced push for digital services resulted into an acceleration of new supply in Mumbai during 2020 with an additional 252MW or 50 per cent added to its development pipeline.

Further, total supply in Asia Pacific markets grew by around 200MW during the quarter taking the total supply to 5,800MW across the region.

The report also stated that the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets witnessed an increase of 4 per cent in uptake during the quarter ended June 2021, to 120MW with a 10 per cent increase in new supply overall totalling to more than 180MW.
