Russian operator MTS registered a 0.9 per cent quarter-on-quarter increase in its subscriber numbers in the first quarter of 2013, say news reports. With 96.36 million customers, as of end-March 2013, the operator registered year-on-year growth of 6.23 per cent.
Region-wise, in Russia, MTS’s subscriber base grew by 0.14 per cent to reach 71.33 million. In Ukraine, the operator’s customer base stood at 20.76 million, a 1.66 per cent growth over the previous quarter, while in Armenia and Turkmenistan, MTS’ customer base stood at 2.38 million and 1.89 million for the period under review. In Belarus, the operators’ subscriber base registered a growth of 0.19 per cent. The company’s subscriber base in the country stood at 5.24 million.
