
MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) today announced the launch of an eco-friendly data center in Noida. The green data centre has been built by IBM and complies with the Tier 3 standards. It is MTS? third data center in the country after similar set ups in Chennai and Jaipur. The company has invested over Rs 0.35 billion in its latest data centre.
According to Rajeev Batra, chief information officer, MTS India, ?With the commissioning of MTS’ data centre in Noida, we now have three state of the art data centers across the country. This latest set up would provide impetus to the MTS data focused strategy and is in line with our plans to foray into cloud computing services segment. What makes this latest data center all the more special is its extremely low carbon foot-print.?
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the newly inaugurated green data center facilities have spread over an area of approx. 22000 sq ft. The newly inaugurated green data centre will add to the reliability and resilience of the MTS services and applications for customers. The applications in the centre will be in shared and fall-back mode between Chennai and Noida for enhanced customer experience. This data center can be scaled up twice of its existing capacity as per the increase in demand for services.
The data centre has intelligent BMS (building management system) for round the clock monitoring and surveillance in order to have effective energy utilisation and security.
